Genie Universal jest małym, lecz potężnym urządzeniem skierowanym głównie do serwisów naprawiających/odblokowujących telefony. Koncepcja opiera się na idei tzw. klipa, który podłącza się do telefonu poprzez złącze serwisowe w celu przesłania specjalnych komend odblokowujących bez potrzeby użycia komputera. Genie jest bardzo rozbudowany, wszechstrony i wręcz wychodzi poza ramy zwykłego klipa odblokowującego.
Genie posiada kolorowy wyświetlacz LCD, klawiaturę, wewnętrzny akumulator LiOn, gniazdo kart pamięci SD, gniazdo kart SIM, port równoległy, 2 porty USB - host i device - wystarczający sprzęt, aby zapewnić bardzo elastyczną i przyszłościową platformę do serwisowania, odblokowywania, naprawy a nawet flashowania telefonów komórkowych.
Całe bogactwo w sprzęcie poparte jest również potężnym wsparciem programistycznym. Wbudowany system operacyjny, rozbudowane sterowniki dla różnych protokołów serwisowych - szybkie flashowanie UART, definiowane protokoły jak Nokia FBUS i zmodyfikowane protokoły flashowania SPI, numeracja urządzeń USB pozwalająca na podłączenie wielu telefonów kom. daje Genie podstawy, aby uwazać je za wszechstronne i uniwersalne urządzenie serwisowe.
Aplikacje
Genie can execute small programs, that we call applications. This is similar the way programs are run on a PC, Mac or PDA. Every application is stored on the SD card in the Programs directory and can be executed by selecting it in the Program Manager Menu and then clicking ‘Run’. The application will be loaded and the user will have the ability to control it, select required function - for example unlock or repair a phone, detect connected phone, read the phone information etc. When the application is no longer needed, the user can simply exit it and return to the Genie main menu.
As there are many applications available for Genie, and there will be much more added in near future, all of the applications are organized in directories based on the phone model supported - all Nokia applications are in folder called ‘Nokia’, all SE applications are in folder called ‘SE’ and so on.
